Hey my magical friends! Welcome back to a magician’s reveal – as I was thinking of the next trick I thought to myself “what is the one trick I do that is simple, requires almost no set up, and can be done with what most of us already have in our pockets?”
Today I am teaching you the Screen Trick.
Have you ever wondered how to merge the wonder of magic with the everyday tech we all have at our fingertips? Today, I’m going to share a trick that does just that. I will be showing you how to take a Euro bill (or any bill for that matter) and a smartphone, to create a moment of pure amazement..
Why this trick?
As a magician in the digital age, I’m always on the lookout for ways to incorporate technology into my performances. This trick is a perfect example of that blend, using a currency bill and a smartphone we all know so well, what I think always makes for the best reactions. I hope you can see a theme from me here, where I am teaching you to use the simple things to blow people’s minds.

As you saw this trick requires almost no setup, making it perfect for impromptu performances. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s guaranteed to leave your friends in awe.
Here’s the gist of it: you’ll use a Euro bill—the same amount I used in the very first trick of this series for those paying close attention—to bring what looks like a picture of the bill to life, instantly. As you can see you do need to take a few photos before you perform this trick, make sure the first photo is of a black background (creating a black screen on your phone), and the next picture you take is the bill you will use on that very same background. With a slide of your hand you move from the photo of the bill to the photo of the black screen and at the same time reveal the original bill you nicely had tucked away behind your fingers.
Tips for a Perfect Performance
- Practice the hand movement: For beginners this will be the hardest part of this trick, practice effortlessly hiding the bill and looking at your own hand to make sure it isn’t seen. Remember if you can see it, so can your audience.
- Tell a story: Like any great magician, it’s about the journey you take your audience on, don’t be afraid to be playful, suggest this is the easiest way to make €50, etc. Enjoy yourself.
- Keep it Smooth: The smoother your movements, the more convincing the illusion will be.
